A new partnership between Backstage Academy and Elation Professional and Obsidian Control Systems will offer students access to industry-leading lighting and control technologies to support the next generation of live experience creators.
Students will use Elation lighting and Obsidian lighting control products as part of their studies, gaining practical experience using equipment that is driving the future of industry standards.
Elation Professional is a global company providing innovative lighting solutions across the live industry. From theatre to theme parks, their products are recognised for setting new efficiency and performance standards in the industry. Elation also offers an advanced line of lighting control products through Obsidian Control Systems.
Students will have access to a range of cutting-edge products, including Proteus and KL series luminaires, NX control solutions and NETRON data distribution devices to equip them with a strong technical foundation and experience needed to succeed in the working world.
The equipment will also be used as part of Backstage Academy’s short course offers for the live events industry. With a range of courses available, industry professionals will receive world-class training supported by Elation and Obsidian lighting technologies.

The partnership also sees Elation lighting products used within XPLOR, a research and innovation centre delivered by Backstage Academy. Dedicated to evolving live production, entertainment, arts, and creative industries, XPLOR conducts pioneering research and development as well as custom services for clients. Elation's KL Panel™ and KL Fresnel 8 FC™ luminaires are used in XPLOR’s Centre for Virtual Production.
