Tell us about your experience studying at Backstage Academy

Unlike most students, I first started my journey at Backstage Academy by doing a Foundation year. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to continue my studies and complete the full BA Hons in Live Events Production.

What have you been doing since graduating?

I was fortunate enough to have had a job lined up for when I finished university on Production Park. As an Assets Stage Technician, I’ve been able to work with big name artists such as Dave, Arctic Monkeys, The 1975 and Gorillaz. It’s been really exciting to have the opportunity to work with some of my favourite artists. I’m really enjoying having the chance to use my degree and work within the live events industry.

How did Backstage Academy help with your career development?

Backstage Academy prepared me very well for my career in many ways from teaching me the practical skills I need for my job to networking skills that have been essential to meeting people in the industry.

What was your favourite part of studying at Backstage Academy?

One of my favourite memories at Backstage Academy was the amazing opportunity I had working with Little mix before their final UK tour earlier this year. It was really great to see the hard work finally pay off and experience something like this.

What advice would you give someone who wants to study at Backstage Academy?

If I could give any advice, it would be to put in as much effort and enthusiasm into uni life as possible. The more you put in, the more you get out of it. Staff will recognise the effort you put in and it can help you get more industry opportunities during your course.

From live music and festivals to cruise ships and exhibitions, the career opportunities that come from studying Live Events Production cover a huge range of sectors. Whether you are interested in lighting design, live sound, event business or live visuals, this degree will develop your interest so you’ll be a specialised yet well-rounded live events professional.
